Went for my birthday 7/22. Our waitress was the best. I wish I could remember her name. I always love going to this establishment. On this particular evening the wait time for a table was long so we ended up still at our table after the kitchen had closed. It was close to closing but the waitress was very good natured about it. She wasn't rude. She was very engaging. I would give her 5* I love the fried lobster tail. Our meals good portions. I had to bring mine home had it for lunch the next day. They had the best corn on the cob. I wish they would think about putting it back on the menu.

Very good food at very good prices. The prime rib sandwich is unbeatable in price and the fisherman’s platter is as good as it gets.

Good with a few issues. The lobster pot pie and fried calamari were excellent. The clam chowder was a little gritty... Need to be sure those clams are washed well. Overall though the food and service was good up until it took near twenty minutes to pay for the food. Not sure what happened but it was pretty ridiculous.

Questions & Answers

Open New Year's Eve

Yes

Yes like every restaurant 20 to 30 minutes ahead of time and also depends what day and how busy they are at the restaurant

Hello, Chowder Pot 1 was a roadside stand that the original owner, Jonathan Smith, opened over 30 years ago. Then he grew his business and closed 1 and opened 2, grew again, closed 2 and opened 3 in Branford which is still open today. Approx. 26 years ago he opened 4 in Hartford. Just over seven years ago he went into semi-retirement and sold me, his former chef, Chowder Pot 4. He has unfortunately since passed and Chowder Pot 3 is being run by former employees. So 3 + 4 share a name and are similar in concept but are no longer connected in any way. I hope that answers your question. Stay healthy and come visit our "patio".

Yvonne, Sorry, but we are closed on Christmas Day so our employees can spend the holiday with their families. Have a Merry Christmas! The Chowder Pot
